DJ Nina LoVe and producer/musician Tom run Purple Noise from The Loft studio in the Town Hall. Purple Noise is a new Community Interest Company that exists to give local communities – especially young people and those with limited opportunities – the space, resources, skills and support to make and share the music they love. They offer music lessons, workshops and music advice for everyone, and spaces for producing, rehearsing and teaching. They also provide music services, including composition, production, mixing and live/online DJs.
“When it comes to music education, we strongly believe in meeting music-makers on their own musical turf, and broadening their experience and abilities by finding the common ground between different kinds of music and music-making. So our focus is on rock, pop and urban music, but also on opening minds to other genres. We also know that music is a means of enhancing wider practical and life skills: whether that’s the technical aspects of sound engineering, the science of sound or the business and organisational aspects of running music events. We fell in love with the Town Hall building after just a few visits, because of its beautiful architecture, its interesting public spaces, and the direction it’s taken as a community hub for Trowbridge. We also have roots in the town and the West Wilts area, and we’re so happy to be able to give back to the community some of what we’ve learned in our musical lives, much of which we owe to the start we had here.”
