We hold weekly Music For The Mind sessions on Monday afternoons at the Town Hall. Our group is led by singing teacher David Moss and assisted by Alzheimer’s Support staff and volunteers. As well as leading us in a wide variety of songs, he entertains and moves us with his fiddle and mandolin playing.
Music for the Mind is a wonderful way for people living with dementia and their husbands, wives or care partners to connect with music and with each other. Sessions are full of humour and laughter as old and new friends come together to enjoy some social time and make music.
The group started out at the charity’s premises in Mill Street, but as it grew we made the move to the Town Hall. It’s been a great place to meet, in the heart of the town, in a beautifully proportioned, light and airy room. We haven’t looked back.
For more information see www.alzheimerswiltshire.org.uk where you’ll find details about the group, how to sign up and our Covid-19 specific risk assessments. Or call 01380 739055 to find out more.
The group relies on volunteers to keep going. If you’d like to spend your Monday afternoons doing something uplifting in great company, email volunteer coordinator Annie Clayton AnnieC@alzheiemerswiltshire.org.uk
